Description

In Math Grade Two, students develop their skills in solving one- and two-step word problems using addition and subtraction within 100. The course emphasizes continued growth in understanding place value, focusing on hundreds, tens, and ones. This foundational knowledge supports students as they learn to add and subtract within 1,000 using a variety of strategies. Additional key areas of study include classifying two-dimensional shapes, recognizing lines of symmetry, and applying mathematical concepts to money, time, measurement, perimeter, and graphing data.

Module One: Two-Digit Addition

-Recall sums to 20

-Add two whole numbers with sums to 100

-Add using place value, base ten blocks, expanded form, number line, and other strategies

-Learn regrouping strategies when sums are greater than 10

-Solve and write one-step and two-step word problems with results unknown

Module Two: Two-Digit Subtraction

-Recall differences within 20 and their related addition facts

-Subtract two whole numbers within 100

-Subtract using place value, base ten blocks, expanded form, number line, and other strategies to make groups of 10 when needed

-Solve and write one-step and two-step word problems with results unknown

Module Three: Addition and Subtraction

-Determine if addition and subtraction equations are true or false

-Solve an addition or subtraction equation for an unknown number

-Solve one-step and two-step word problems that include start, change, and results unknown
